Makes a high-pitched noise then dies immediately, like I missed one of the hoses or connections when putting it back together. I did label the connections before I took it apart, so I don’t think I hooked up anything wrong. 96 I30
I also replaced the PCV valve with an OEM one, which was successful. Brand new OEM intake gasket as well.
I think I regret trying to do it now.

Is the gasket not leaking? You may be eligible for half credit...

I don’t know! This can’t be determined if the car won’t even start! Well, I guess it doesn’t leak then hahahahaha

Sounds like a disconnected vacuum hose.

probably

the car’s 20 years old, so one or more of the plastic/rubber vacuum PCV hoses might have split or cracked.

High pitched how? Accessory belt, or something you left under the hood?
Could an accessory device be overtightened?

Fuel pump making noise?

Yes, the fuel pump worls fine, and the car will run as long as your foot is on the gas, but it makes tasmanian devil noises

sounds like the tasmanian devil. The car will run as long as your foot is always ont ehgas. Most likely a vacuum hose not connected

Not sure exactly how your specific engine works, but sounds like idle control is off. If you have a maf, afm, icv, or anything of the sort start with those.

My cars both had vacuum issues recently. Its so odd to me when trends spread like this.
